TERMS

Terms of use.

Last updated: May 17, 2026

HonoReel is operated by Reciprocity LLC, a Michigan limited liability company. These Terms of Use are an agreement between you and Reciprocity LLC. By using HonoReel, you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, please don't use the service.

What HonoReel does

HonoReel is a tool for organizing a group honor for someone in your life. Organizers create a reel, invite contributors, gather messages and media, optionally collect charitable donations through a partner, and present the result when the moment is right.

Who can use HonoReel

You must be at least 13 years old to use HonoReel. If you're under 18, you may only use the service with the involvement and consent of a parent or legal guardian, who is also responsible for your use of HonoReel under these terms. Organizers are responsible for keeping their sign-in credentials secure and for everything that happens under their account.

Acceptable use

You agree not to use HonoReel to:

  • Send abusive, harassing, defamatory, threatening, hateful, or unlawful content to or about any person.
  • Submit content that infringes someone else's intellectual property, privacy, or publicity rights.
  • Create reels for individuals who have not consented (where consent is legally required) or for purposes that would embarrass, intimidate, or harm the person being “honored.”
  • Bypass moderation, send unsolicited bulk invitations, or use the service to extract data about other users.
  • Impersonate another person, misrepresent your affiliation with someone, or create reels under a false identity.
  • Probe, scan, or test the vulnerability of the service, or attempt to bypass any security or rate-limiting mechanism.
  • Use the service to distribute malware, phishing links, or other technically harmful material.

Organizers are responsible for what gets sent through their reel, including invitations and content posted by their contributors. We may remove content, suspend reels, or close accounts that violate these terms.

What you promise about your content

When you submit a message, photo, video, document, or other content to HonoReel, you represent that:

  • You own it or have the rights and permissions needed to upload it and to grant the license described below.
  • You have the right to include any other person who appears in the content (or, where required by law, their parent or guardian).
  • Submitting it doesn't violate any law or anyone else's rights.
  • For phone numbers and email addresses you enter when inviting contributors, you have permission to contact those people on our behalf.

Your content

You keep ownership of everything you submit - messages, photos, videos, documents. By submitting content you grant Reciprocity LLC a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to host, store, reproduce, transmit, display, and deliver that content as needed to operate HonoReel and to present the reel you submitted it to. This license lasts as long as the content is on HonoReel and ends when the content is deleted.

We don't use your content for advertising, for training any AI model, or for any purpose outside the reel you submitted it to.

AI features

HonoReel offers optional AI-assisted features (prompt suggestions, writing assist, and - on premium reels - proofreading) powered by Anthropic's Claude API. When you use one of these features, the relevant text you provide is sent to Anthropic to generate the suggestion. Under Anthropic's API terms, that content is not used to train their models. We don't use it to train any model of our own. AI suggestions are starting points - you choose whether to keep, edit, or discard them.

SMS messages

If an organizer invites you to a reel by phone number, you consent to receive transactional SMS messages from HonoReel related to that invitation (the invite itself and, if you haven't responded, a reminder). Message frequency varies. Reply STOP to opt out of further messages, or HELP for assistance. Message and data rates may apply through your carrier.

Organizers who supply phone numbers agree that they have permission to contact those people for the purpose of the reel, and that they are responsible for any complaint or claim arising from contact they direct us to make.

Donations

Donations made through a HonoReel are processed by Every.org, a registered 501(c)(3) public charity. Every.org is the merchant of record, issues your tax receipt, and disburses funds to the chosen recipient nonprofit. HonoReel doesn't take a cut of any donation. We are not a charity, broker, or financial advisor; we're a facilitator that hands the donation off to Every.org for processing.

Account & access

Organizer accounts are managed through Clerk. You're responsible for keeping your sign-in credentials secure and for any activity under your account. You can delete your account at any time by emailing hello@honoreel.com. Contributors don't need an account to submit; their access is governed by the invite link they receive.

If we need to suspend or end your access

We can suspend or close an account, remove a reel, or take down specific content if we reasonably believe it violates these terms, harms another person, or exposes HonoReel or its providers to legal risk. Where it's reasonable to do so, we'll let you know what happened and why. In urgent cases (clear abuse, illegal content, ongoing harassment) we may act first and explain after.

Reporting copyright concerns

If you believe content on HonoReel infringes a copyright you hold, please email hello@honoreel.com with a description of the work, the URL or location of the allegedly infringing content, your contact information, a statement of good-faith belief that the use is not authorized, and a statement under penalty of perjury that the information is accurate and you are authorized to act. We respond to valid notices under the DMCA and may remove or disable access to the content.

Service availability

HonoReel is provided as-is and as-available. We work hard to keep it running, but we don't guarantee uninterrupted access, and we don't promise that any specific feature will exist in the future. Where possible we'll give you reasonable notice before retiring anything you depend on. We don't guarantee that delivery of email or SMS through our providers will reach every recipient.

Disclaimers

To the fullest extent allowed by law, HonoReel is provided without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, or that the service will be uninterrupted, secure, or error-free. AI-generated suggestions are provided as drafts for you to review; we don't warrant their accuracy, suitability, or originality. Some jurisdictions don't allow the exclusion of certain warranties, so portions of this disclaimer may not apply to you.

Limit of our liability

To the fullest extent allowed by law, Reciprocity LLC and its officers, members, employees, and service providers will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits, revenue, goodwill, or data, arising out of or related to your use of HonoReel. Our total liability for any claim arising out of or related to HonoReel is limited to the greater of (a) the amount you paid to us in the 12 months before the event giving rise to the claim, or (b) one hundred U.S. dollars (US$100). Some jurisdictions don't allow these limits, so portions may not apply to you.

Your responsibility for claims

You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless Reciprocity LLC and its officers, members, employees, and service providers from any claim, loss, liability, or expense (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising out of or related to: (a) content you submit to HonoReel; (b) contact you direct us to make on your behalf (including email and SMS invitations); (c) your violation of these terms; or (d) your violation of any law or the rights of a third party.

Governing law and disputes

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Michigan, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules. Any dispute arising out of or related to these terms or to HonoReel must be brought exclusively in the state or federal courts located in the State of Michigan, and you consent to personal jurisdiction in those courts. Nothing in this section prevents either party from bringing a claim in small-claims court if the dispute qualifies.

Changes to these terms

If we make material changes to these terms, we'll update the date at the top of this page and, where the change affects how your data is handled, notify active organizers by email at least 14 days before the change takes effect. Continuing to use HonoReel after a change takes effect means you accept the updated terms.
